on Orders Over $99The original antique dates back to the WW1 era and was produced in Kotli Loharan, in the then Northwest Frontier (of colonial India), an area many Gurkha battalions served in over history. This is a Battalion style Kukri and was produced for use by Gurkha battalions on duty in the area, among others it is known that the 3rd battalion of the 8th Gurkha Rifles carried these a century or so ago.
The blade has an upper part which is hollow forged, making it lighter and faster in use, an ideal close quarter fighting Kukri. The area in which these were originally made and used was known for tribal fighters and it would not have been unusual that the Gurkha soldiers had to take out their Kukris to fight.
Our adapted reproduction is called the “Kotli Kukri” and follows the original blade pattern; the handle is adapted to full-tang and longer (5 inches) to fit the modern hand. With all our Kukri knives, we oil quench and properly heat treat them to ensure quality.
This Kukri has a great balance and can be used for a wide variety of tasks in the outdoors and self-defense. The Kotli Kukri gives the user full benefits of the forward curving blade design, light weight for speedy use and a great piece to any collection. Batoning is not recommended with Kukri knives.
Comes with a black water buffalo leather over wood scabbard with belt frog.
